Layered Green Salad


In a 9 x 13, layer the following ingredients in order shown:

  • 1/2 head (or more) iceberg lettuce, cut up
  • 1/2-Cup diced celery
  • 1/4-Cup diced green bell pepper
  • 1/2-Cup diced green onions
  • 1/2-Cup green peas (or blanched fresh green beans)
  • 1/2-can sliced water chestnuts

Spread 1 Cup mayo over top; pressing slightly (calls for 1 Cup, but I use more ­ can't seem to get that amount spread properly)

Top with cheddar cheese

Sprinkle with Schilling/McCormick Salad Supreme

Refrigerate overnight

Set Out about 1/2 hour before serving

Variation: Parmesan cheese and sliced cooked eggs on top (leaves out the peas)
